That same philosophy inspires our DaRkar Rally Espresso Blend. Roasting a darker espresso is its own kind of rally — every decision after first crack demands control and endurance. Push too hard, and you risk burning out the flavor. Hold back, and you lose the power. The art is in the balance.
Our blend is a team of four coffees, each like a driver or mechanic on the rally crew:
Sumatra Mandheling – the rugged backbone, earthy and strong.
India Golden Nuggets – steady sweetness and chocolate, the stabilizer.
Rwanda UKURI Anaerobic Bourbon – vibrant fruit and aromatics, the spark of innovation.
Uganda Robusta Screen 18 – stamina, crema, and raw power to finish the race.
Together they create a full-bodied, crema-rich espresso with layers of dark chocolate, spice, and a touch of fruit brightness. Like the rally, it’s bold, unrelenting, and rewarding to those who embrace the challenge.
Q: Why does this blend include Robusta?
A: Our Ugandan Robusta Screen 18 is carefully sourced and fully traceable. It’s not a filler — it’s a specialty-quality bean chosen to give the blend a thicker crema, more strength, and a deeper chocolate profile.
Q: Isn’t Robusta considered “low quality” in coffee?
A: Commercial-grade Robusta has given it a bad reputation. But just like Arabica, when it’s grown, harvested, and processed with care, Robusta can be exceptional. We only use specialty-grade Robusta, roasted precisely to highlight its best qualities.
Q: What does the Robusta add to the cup?
A: It brings persistence — more crema, a stronger caffeine kick, and bold body that balances beautifully with the sweetness of India, the fruit of Rwanda, and the earthy depth of Sumatra.
Q: Does it still fit your specialty coffee philosophy?
